AAXISS: RECONNECT: YAADEINRanchi, Jharkhand | Friday | 05, 2016 :: A small group of alumni based at Ranchi namely,Alok Gupta, the Co-ordinator, Jasbir Khurana, Himalaya, Puja Jaiswal, Piyali, Sweta, Pooja, Ankit ,Nishant , Sanjay and Nikitacame up with the idea of developing a common platform where institute can connect with their alma mater, organize fruitful events /seminars, conduct social work and support the Institute in placements etc. Thus with the support of Director XISS and a team of faculties of all the disciplines abody of alumni under the name of ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF XISS (AAXISS) was created .

AAXISS, Ranchi would have its own legal identity and the chapters of all the other states would function under it. The Institute organised its first alumni meet in XISS campus by the name of AAXISS: RECONNECT: YAADEINon 5th February, 2016 from 3:30 pm to 7:00pm. Recognizing AAXISS as an integral part of the XISS fraternity, Fr. Alexius Ekka , Director XISS, inaugurated the AAXISS Office in the campus.

Next, keeping in view the culture of XISS the Reconnect program started with an introductory session including an address to the alumni by the director, XISS Fr. Alexius Ekka SJ who also happened to be the chief guest for the event.This was followed by the welcome speech and the genesis of AAXISS as it stands today. This event was also graced by the honourable presence of Father Frankelin, Ex-Director of the institute.

One of the main highlights of the program included the felicitation of two super senior Alumni of the PM ’72 batch, Kamal Ashraf and RC Sarkar. XISS has a very strong alumni base and it grows in collaboration with the alumnus.The guest of honour for the program, Mrs MridulaSinha IAS, SplSecy, Rural Development department, ParitoshYadav, CEO JSLPS and R.S Mahapatra, Director CCL, which also happens to be one of the major recruiter at XISS, engaged in an interactive session with the audience to help students be better prepared for their placements and enrich their academic knowledge.

It is the intent of the AAXISS team, to engage the alumnus base of the institute not only academically but also through various non- academic initiatives like tree plantation , eye check-up camps, health camps, orphanages and sport activities. Through his speech, the Assistant Director of the institute, Father RanjitToppo expressed his support for the initiatives as an opportunity for the XISS fraternity to evolve.

As an expression of their gratitude and support towards the AAXISS RECONNECT initiative the students of XISS, under the guidance of Dr.Rajshreeverma (Faculty, Dept. of Rural management) organised a cultural programme on this occasion. Other fun activities and cultural performances by the alumni was also a part of this event. The student organizer included Minu, Pranay, Stacey, Savio, Geetika, Mayank, Tanul, Aakash ,Navya, Ranjit, Sukrati, Rudrendu, Shweta, Neslon, Swati, Aditi, Saquib, Shilpi, and Sylvia. The program ended with a Musical extravaganza.This initiative aims to help build a co-operative and symbiotic growth experience for both the college and the alumnus.
