Augmented City Surveillance and Response Capability Launched in Jamshedpur

JamshedpurJamshedpur, Jharkhand | September | Saturday | 12, 2015 :: Police leaders worldwide have recognised the need of support of the community and corporates to prevent and detect crime through community and collaborative policing. To develop a completely successful police force, it is essential to have public involvement, public confidence and public co-operation. Jharkhand police in partnership with Tata Steel – a responsible corporate citizen – launched Augmented City Surveillance and Response Capability in Jamshedpur city today in a function chaired by Shri D K Pandey Director General of Police Jharkhand in the presence of Shri Sunil Bhaskaran Vice-President Corporate Services Tata Steel, senior police and Tata Steel officials, eminent citizens of Jamshedpur and media representatives in JRD Tata Sports Complex.

Well-built and trained security personnel provided by Tata Steel and armed police personnel provided by Jamshedpur police will patrol the city on twenty motor cycles fitted with GPS and provided with first-aid kit, wireless and other accessories. Leverage of technology in this initiative enables real time location monitoring and status of patrol, remote locking and unlocking of motorcycles, generation of MIS and analysis of patrol trends. These mobile patrols deployed and controlled by the Jamshedpur police, will be tracked in the police control room for surveillance, domination of various beats, extension of assistance to victim of accidents, timely and swift intervention within minutes to deter and prevent crime in the city and provide sense of assurance to the citizens. This PPP initiative is one of the unique initiatives in the country launched as a pilot project.
