Ranchi, Jharkhand 27 June 2014 :: Asha Lakra is Elected as a New mayor of Ranchi in Civic Polls. Asha Lakra was backed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Asha Lakra defeated Trinamool Congress (TMC) backed candidate Naveen Lakra. The election for the Ranchi Municipal Corporation’s mayoral post was held 23rd of June 2014 and the counting of votes took place Friday in Pandra, Ranchi. A total 14 candidates were in the fray.
The election witnessed the lowest turnout with only 17.72 percent electors casting their votes.
