Ranchi, Jharkhand | November | 18, 2017 :: It has been truly said “Don’t lament because it is over, but smile and be happy that it happened.” On the concluding day of the National Chess Tournament organised by the C.B.S.E Board in the premises of Sarala Birla Public School, Mahilong, Ranchi, a closing ceremony was concerted to express gratitude and thanks to all the contestants, coaches and managers of the participating schools of various regions of India as well as the Gulf countries and all the other prestigious guests who have helped in the smooth conduction of the entire event thus making it successful. The esteemed guests of honour to grace the occasion were Chess Observer R.S.Tiwari, C.B.S.E. Board Regional Officer L.L.Meena, Human Resource and Development Minister Smt. Neera Yadav, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Amar Kumar Baori as well as principals of other esteemed schools.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest followed by a melodious welcome song by the school choir. The principal of the host school, Mrs. Paramjeet Kaur welcomed and addressed the gathering. In her speech, she said that it has been an honour to host such a mega event in our school. She added that she is looking forward to hosting many more such prestigious events like this in the future.
This was followed by the prize distribution of the individual events by Shri R.S Tiwari followed by his encouraging words. In his speech he said it was a great pleasure to be present at the occasion. He also added that the programme was arranged in a fabulous and magnificence manner and the presence of the honourable guests have enthused the contestants with renewed enthusiasm and zeal.
Next in the series were the board prizes given away by L.L.Meena followed by his speech. He said that he was highly obliged to welcome the participant from other states of India as well as abroad to Jharkhand, the state of mines and minerals. He also added that children are our assets and they should be nurtured with immense love and care alongwith imparting to them the value of culture and tradition.
Cultural events depicting various dance forms of the different states of India were staged by the students of the host school to highlight the vibrant colours of India to bring out the spirit of unity and brotherhood among people which was highly appreciated by everyone present at the event.
Awards for team prizes were handed out by Human Resource and Development Minister Neera Yadav. She congratulated the champions and began her speech with a very apt quote “Sidhiya unhe Mubarak ho jinhe chat par jana hai, Hamari manjil asman hai isliye rasta khud hi banana hai”.
She expressed her thanks to the organizers for arranging a platform for the various states of India as well as countries from aboard for witnessing the culture and tradition of Jharkhand. She advised the children to concentrate on their target wholeheartedly to achieve their goal.
Special awards for Youngest Girl Player, Youngest Boy Player and the Player with the Best Sportsman Spirit and other team prizes were given away by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Amar Kumar Baori which was succeeded by his speech. Praising the cultural tableau presented by the students of Sarala Birla Public School, he said that how in a short time they have brought the entire nation together with their vibrant dance forms from every nook and cranny of India. He compared the human life to a game of chess which has to be played in a disciplined manner to achieve success.
Gracing the occasion, School Head Personnel and Admin and Director of the Chess Association, Pradip Verma said that it has been a joint mental and physical venture of many people to turn this event into a triumphant one. He praised each and every member of the host school who were actively involved as well as the ones behind the curtains for their efforts to make this event a successful one.
The meet was declared closed by Amar Kumar Bauri.
The day came to a close with the vote of thanks and lowering of the tournament flag.

She is also a recipient of the President Medal Winner 2016. She has also been
Awarded the Under 10 Worlds Champions Trophy held in Greece in 2015 and
also the Under 12 Asian Youth Girls Championship Trophy held in Uzbekistan in
April 2017. She has also received 15 international medals in World Youth, Asian
Youth and Commonwealth Championships. Presently she is ranked 9th in the
world, third in Asia and second in the national level.
Srijit Paul, present rating 2319 has won the IM norm Open in the Badolona
International Championship held in Spain in 2017. Apart from this he has also
won the first prize in the rating category in Under 2300 also held in Spain. In the
World Junior Chess Championship held in Orissa in 2016 he was again awarded
the IM norm. In the under 15 championship organised in Delhi in 2015. He secured the 7th rank.

In under 11 girls’ category Velammal Vidyalaya New stood 1st, DPS Sail Township Ranchi stood 2nd and Amity International School Noida got 3rd Prize.
In under 11 mixed category Modern School New Delhi, Velammal Vidyashram Chenai and St. Anthony’s Sr. Sec School Udaipur received the 1st,2nd 3rd respectively.
In under 14 girls’ category SBOA School and Junior college got the 1st prize, Lakshmipat Singhania Academy got the 2nd prize and Cambridge International School for Girls’ Jalandhar got 3rd prize.
In under 14 mixed category Velammal Vidyalaya New, DPS Rourkela and Presidium School got the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.
In under 17 girls’ category Velammal Vidyalaya got the 1st prize, Adarsh Vidya Kendra Nagercoil got the 2nd prize and Lakshmipat Singhania Academy got the 3rd prize.
In under 17 mixed category DPS North Kolkata, Javahar Vidyalaya Sr. Sec School Chenai and Amity International School Noida received the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.
In under 19 girls’ category PSBBSS School got the 1st prize, Moder Sr. Sec School got the 2nd prize and The Lawrence Pub. School New Delhi 3rd prize.
In under 19 mixed category South Point High School, Maharishi Vidya Mandir Chennai and DPS New Delhi received the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.
