Delhi Legislative Assembly :: 195225 January 2015 :: The first Delhi Legislative Assembly election to the Delhi Legislative Assembly was held on 27th of March 1952. Various national parties as well as independent candidates participated in the elections. 48 candidates from a total of 42 constituencies were elected to the Legislative Assembly. Out of the 48 seats, the Congress won 46 seats, the All India Bharatiya Jan Sangh (BJS) and independent candidate won one seat each.

 Chaudhary Brahm Prakash of the INC became the first Chief Minister of Delhi and served in this office from 1952 to 1955.
