New Delhi, 11 March 2012 – Citizens’ Film Forum celebrated Women’s Day in Poorva Sanskriti Kendra, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi.During the celebration Citizen Film Forum (CFF) held a panel discussion and screening of short films made by women directors.
The subject of discussion was “Role of films in Education”. Celebrating International Women’s Day, the discussion panel consisted of women only.
The event screened five short films by women directors. The Show was curated by Mr. Vimal S. Mehta. The theme of the films included education of girl child care of HIV infected children, Urbanisation of Delhi and the Loosing battle of the the Ballads of Punjab The discussion was interesting and interactive.
Participating film makers were made by women students of film making as a part of their projects. Ms Harkran Kaur of Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan was present as one panellist. Her film Ashiayana, documentary about HIV infected children was appreciated. The film will be screened on 13th March at Russian centre of science and culture after the inauguration of BRICS film festival. Other films screened included Mati mere desh ki, Dilli, Dhadi, and dreams etc, Dilli is by Ms. Rintu Thomas and dhadi by ms. nupur].
The panellists were Ms Harkiran Kaur, a documentary film maker, Ms Padmini Mehta, an artist, photographer and painter and ms Dr. madhuri Sharma , an educationist . The moderator was Mr S. S. Sharma, a film maker, advisor CFF.
CFF founder Vimal S. Mehta had invited guests to share critical appreciation of the screened films and praised the participants for showing enthusiasm and coming forward with their select work.
The screening was followed by a discussion on the films. This was the last of the series of discussions on the subject, 10th edition. Panellist from different walks of life has expressed their views.
This was second time that CFF had an all women panel. But this time even the movies screened were made by women film makers and largely the crew was of women only.
CFF i will now be inaugurating the BRICS film festival at Russian cultural centre on 13th march as its next activity.
In the month of April it is purposed to show the documentary on a veteran film maker V shantaram and an old B&W film of 1948, directed by MR Kirdar
