DPS International Chess Championship Girls (open)-2017

Ranchi, Jharkhand | October | 14, 2017 :: Under the aegis of DPS Society, New Delhi; Delhi Public School, Ranchi declared The DPS International Chess Championship Girls (open)-2017 open on 14th October 2017 (Saturday). The Chief Guest of the occasion was K.K. Khandelwal IAS, Secretary cum Commissioner, Government of Jharkhand in the presence of the principal of the school Dr. Ram Singh. Pritam Singh CEO, All India Jharkhand Chess Association (AJCA).

The Championship was declared open with the moving of the Chess pieces by the Chief Guest and the principal Dr. Ram Singh.

The ceremony was followed by an oath ceremony in which the participants pledged to keep their sportsman spirit.

Dr. Ram Singh the Principal of DPS Ranchi welcomed the Chief Guest and the teams and said that it is an honor for the school to be the host of such a prestigious event. He also that Chess is not only a game which helps the growth of the mental ability. He wished luck to each of the participants and said that may the best team win.

Encouraging the participants Chief Guest K.K. Khandelwal IAS, said that Chess is the game of deep thinking and confidence. It gives the students the ability to improve the logical thinking.

The teams of 13 different schools from all over India are participating in the championship namely, DPS Allahabad, DPS Ananda Puram, DPS Asansol, DPS Buland Sahar, DPS Dhanbad, DPS Gurgaon, DPS Jamshedpur, DPS Kamptee Road Nagpur, DPS Nalco Nagar, DPS R.K. Puram, DPS Lucknow, DPS Raurkela and DPS Ranchi.

The results of the championship will be displayed live in 185 countries all across the world.

Today three rounds of the chess were played.
