Lens Eye - News Portal - First Time in IPL : Match in Ranchi.03 May 2013 :: For the first time in the History of Indian Premier League [ IPL ], there is going to be Cricket matches in JSCA International Cricket Stadium, Ranchi, Jharkhand. First match will be between Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore on 12th of May 2013 and second will be between Kolkata Knight Riders vs Pune Warriors on 15th of May 2013.

JSCA International Cricket Stadium, is situated in Ranchi, India an eastern city of India. It is the home ground of the Jharkhand cricket team and Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders. Two home games of IPL Team Kolkata Knight Riders will be held at JSCA stadium. It was inaugurated on 18 Jan 2013. The state-of-the-art venue is one of the best stadiums in India.

This stadium is built within the premises of HEC (Heavy Engineering Corporation) , a well renowned public sector company. It is located in vicinity of Ranchi airport, HEC hospital and St Thomas School, Dhurwa, Ranchi. The stadium is the home ground of Indian Cricket Team Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.The site enjoys good views of the surrounding area; Jagannath Temple, Hatia dam and world famous HEC (Heavy Engineering Corporation) Plant can be clearly observed from the stadium site. The stadium has been constructed in such a way that no shadow falls on any of the nine pitches before 4.45 pm, even on the shortest day of the year. There is another ground in the complex which has five pitches. There is a practice arena with eight pitches. The stadium has a seating capacity of around 40,000 and 76 corporate boxes. Spectators can also enjoy views from two nearby hills on the East and West Sides, also known as Eylex Hill Stand.
