#Giving Tuesday [ The Tuesday after U.S. Thanksgiving ]

02 December 2014 :: #GivingTuesday refers to the Tuesday after U.S. Thanksgiving. #GivingTuesday is a movement to create a national day of giving to kick off the giving season. #GivingTuesday was started in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation as a response to commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season ( Black Friday and Cyber Monday).

In 2014, the GivingTuesday movement, launched the GivingTower. The GivingTower is a partnership between 92nd Street Y, the United Nations Foundation, and Crowdrise. Every donation in the GivingTower represents a brick in the virtual Tower.
