New Delhi | March | 26, 2016 :: Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) under its gender equality program – santulan is set to launch a yearlong nationwide mass awareness and sensitization campaign “Tu Hai Shakti” against sex selective abortions; on Sunday March 27, 2016 at Siri Fort Auditorium, from 10:30am – 1:30pm. The grand launch shall be accorded by Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare J. P. Nadda in presence of Guest of Honor MP & National Secretary of BJP Maheish Girri along with a number of stakeholders including doctors, advocates, engineers, charted accountants, corporate professionals, women groups, public associations and youth delegations amongst the distinguished guests.
Even after massive increase in literacy and wealth in Indian population, mourning at birth of a girl child and rejoicing at the birth of a boy is no daze. The tapering census of India marking 927 girls against every 1000 boys in 2001 to 914 in 2011 in 0-6 age group is calling for immediate attention of all concerned authorities. Moreover, lesser number of girls further leads to chain of crimes like polyandry, polygamy, sexual harassment etc., thus dragging down the status of women even more. To break this vicious cycle of subjugation through awakening the receiving end and sensitizing the doer, Santulan has been working incessantly by means of workshops, seminars, awareness desks, rallies, street theater et al.
‘Santulan Campaign’ launched and executed in Ludhiana city of Punjab from year 2010-12 was one of its major endeavors in the same regard. ‘Tu Hai Shakti’ is its elaborated form as it aims to cover not just 1 city but would cover more than 6000 areas including villages, towns and districts in 8 states of India – Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, New Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh through 77 execution points; wherein 8 women ambassadors representing each state along with 25,000 volunteers would be carved as change agents to mobilize action and thus sensitize lakhs of people across the country against gender injustice, ensuring elimination of Sex Selective Abortions.
The launch event of the aforementioned “Tu Hai Shakti” Campaign at Siri Fort Auditorium on 27th March from 10:30am – 1:30pm is said to witness many eminent personalities from government authorities, legal fraternity, medical fraternity, NGOs, educational institutions along with representatives of the sansthan from the chosen 8 states of the country for the execution of the campaign.
The major highlights of the event would be – awareness exhibition on the issue of sex selective abortions, “Music Concert“ | Devotional songs & commentary pointing towards reinstating the lost glory of womanhood, “Mahishasur Mrdini” | A legendary ballet highlighting on building solidarity to fight injustice, Grand launch of “Tu Hai Shakti” – Nationwide Mass Awareness & Sensitization Campaign Against Female Feticide by Hon’ble Chief Guest, Address by the Hon’ble Chief Guest, Oath ceremony of “Tu Hai Shakti” state ambassadors and Memento dissemination to the Chief Guest & Guest(s) of Honor.
