The son of director and action choreographer Veeru Devgan .who has established himself as one of the leading actors of Hindi cinema. Devgn has won numerous awards in his career, including two National Film Awards.

Ajay was born in Punjab to Veena and Veeru Devgan. Originally from Mumbai, India. Ajay Devgan is an alumnus of the Silver Beach High School in Juhu and Mithibai College.
