IIM Ranchi Observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2019

Ranchi, Jharkhand | November | 02, 2019 :: As responsible citizens of the country, it is our duty towards the society to ensure a corruption-free nation. IIM Ranchi joined hands with the Central Vigilance Commission in the fight against corruption by observing Vigilance Awareness Week 2019 during 28th October – 2nd November, 2019. The theme for this year’s Vigilance Awareness Week was “Integrity: Way of Life (???????? – ??????????)”. The students, staff and faculty of the institute took the Integrity Pledge to reaffirm their duties in this journey against corruption.

The students of the Institute organised various activities like Elocution. The event was an attempt to create awareness against corruption as part of Vigilance Awareness Week. A Walkathon and Run for Unity was conducted by the students inside the Khelgaon premises on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The closing ceremony of the Vigilance Awareness Week was organised at Suchana Bhawan campus. Our Guests of Honor, Mr.Sushil Kumar Singh, General Manager, Vigilance Department, Central Coalfields Limited and Mr. Dhiraj Kumar, Chief Manager, Vigilance Department, Central Coalfields Limited graced us with their presence at the closing ceremony of the event. The speakers were greeted by Honourable Director In-charge Prof. P K Bala who administered the Integrity Pledge and addressed the gathering.
Prof. Bala reiterated the importance of Value Systems as an integral part of our life and how the path to integrity should not be restricted to just a week. He also said how corruption spreads not only because of the people who foster it but also because of our ignorance and complacence. Our Chief Guest Mr.Sushil Kumar Singh then addressed the audience and illustrated how corruption has had its evil effects on all spheres of society. He also stressed the importance of transparency in all business affairs. Guest of Honour Mr. Dhiraj Kumar, who also happens to be one of the Alumni of IIM Ranchi, showed the attendees how the study of Ethics and a corruption-free lifestyle should be the order of the day in all business schools to make not only skilled managers but also the future managers with integrity. The event also felicitated the winners of the elocution competition with certificates and book prize. The topic of the elocution was “Role of education to promote integrity and eradicate corruption”. Chief Guest and Guest of Honour were also presented with book as a small token of gratitude. Finally, the event ended with a Vote of Thanks and with all the members of IIM Ranchi fraternity making a pledge to follow the path of righteousness and integrity in all walks of life.
