Lens Eye - News Portal - Justice Virendra Singh took the oath from Governor Syed Ahmed as new Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.Ranchi, Jharkhand 01 November 2014 :: The senior most Judge of Jammu & Kashmir High Court, Justice Virender Singh took the oath from Governor Syed Ahmed as new Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court in Birsa Mandap, Rajbhawan, Ranchi. On this occasion Hemant Soren [ Chief Minister, Jharkhand ] was also present.
Born on October 7, 1954, Justice Virender Singh after graduation from Government College, Rohtak, completed his Degree of Law from J V Jain College, Saharanpur. He entered the legal profession in June, 1978 and practised mostly on criminal side besides dealing with cases under Motor Vehicles Act and Hindu Marriage Act. He practised at Rohtak till 1988 and thereafter came to Chandigarh.
He remained as Deputy Advocate General, Haryana initially from May 1995 to April 1996 and then from July 1996 to January 1999. He was elevated as Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court on July 2, 2002 and transferred to High Court of Jammu and Kashmir. He assumed charge of office on April 19, 2007 and functioned as Acting Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir from April 2, 2012 to June 8, 2012.
