Last rites of martyr Lt Colonel Sankalp Kumar performed with full military honours in Jharkhand.

Ranchi, Jharkhand 07 December 2014 :: The mortal remains of Lt Colonel Sankalp Kumar, who was killed by terrorists in Kashmir on Friday, were consigned to flames with full military honours in at Harmoo Mukti Dham at his hometow Ranchi on Friday.The only son of his Ranchi-based parents, 35-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Sankalp Kumar of 24 Punjab Regiment is survived by two daughters and wifeHis 8-year-old daughter, Sara lit the funeral pyre amid bouts of cries at the emotionally charged ceremony with mother to her side. Large crowds turned up at several places, showering petals on the body during his last journey. Hundreds of bike-borne mourners also followed the body.Governor Syed Ahmed, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jayant Sinha, several Army and police officials were among those present at the funeral
