Mecon celebrated World Indigenous People [ Viswa Adivasi Divas ] at Sungi Village, Khunti.

Ranchi, Jharkhand | August | Monday | 10, 2015 :: An event was organized on the occasion of International day of world indigenous people at village Sungi, Khunti which is one of the adopted village of MECON. The purpose of the event was to promote & protect the extinct rich culture of indigenous people of Jharkhand. These cultures were totally new and inspiring for the most of Meconians participated in this program. Indigenous games and cultural activities were planned in a way that villagers feel comfortable and familiar. Group Lunch for all villagers were also organized by MECON CSR Team on this occasion.  Ashok Kumar Tyagi, CMD, MECON and  SR Sengupta, Director (Technology) along with CSR Team interacted with the senior persons, young persons of the village about their problems , benefits of MECON’s CSR activities launched in their Sungi village. Villagers suggested many ideas to develop their village and expressed gratitude towards MECON for the same.
On this occasion Neel kamal GM (Electrical), S Pandey GM (EE), H K Bhanjdeo, Nodal Officer, CSR, Sanjeev Kumar DGM I/c (CP), CD Balmuchu DGM I/c (CSR Cell) and other officials of MECON and people from all folk of village Sungi were present.
Following activities were carried out by the villagers
1) Chhurr (Boys & Girls), Hockey (boys & Girls), Handi Phor ( Ladies), Ballon Quest , Jalabi race and tug of war (between mecon management and Villagers)
2) 10 Toli participated with their dance forms of Diff. occasion like jani sikkar, Jadur dance, Damkach, jatra, karma puja dance. Jitya puja and other traditional dance forms of Aadiwasi
3) Around 2000 villagers of sungi and surrounding villages took part actively.
