Media Advocacy Workshop On Child Rights

Ranchi, Jharkhand | January | 30, 2018 :: Save the Children organized an advocacy workshop for Media for the rights of Children in Jharkhand in association with Xavier Institute of Social Service at XISS Campus on Tuesday, 30th January, 2017 with focus on Advocacy role of Media for the Rights of children in Jharkhand.

Prof. Dr. M.H. Ansari, Head of Department, Department of Rural Management, XISS welcomed audience. He emphasised on the important role that media in formulation and moulding of the children’s lives and their thought processes. The panellists of the workshop were, Mahadev. Hansda, General Manager, Save the Children, Prof. Dr. Himadri Sinha, Head of Department, Department of Research and Planning, XISS , Madhukar, from Doordarshan,  Anuj K. Sinha, Senior Editor- Prabhat Khabar,  A. Ganguly- The Telegraph,  Devendra Singh Tak, National Manager- Media Coms., Save The Children.
The session was coordinated by Dr. Raj Shree Verma from XISS and Ms. Soumi Haldar from Save the Children. It was attended by the students of Department of Rural Management and also media persons and journalists from various media houses across Ranchi, contributing towards role of media in advocating for child issues. Various aspects of child rights and role of Media in advocacy were discussed like importance having a proactive media, the duty of media in spreading awareness, and the need for community education. A child rights champion with Save the Children, Rumi, shared her experiences of going through abuse during her childhood. The session was an interactive one, with the speakers engaging the audience and allowing for questions.
