Ranchi, Jharkhand | June | 24, 2016 :: Xavier Institute of Social Service conducted a Memorial Service for its former Asst. Director, Late Dr. Fr. Ranjit P.Toppo S.J. who left for heavenly abode on 23rd May, 2016. The ceremony was headed by Fr. Xavier Soreng S.J, Fr. Alex Ekka S.J. & Fr. Pradeep Kerketta S.J.
Late Dr.(Fr.) Ranjit P. Toppo S.J., who was born on March 30th1961 at Gumla was a talented educationist, a visionary and an avid reader. He did his doctoral studies from Ranchi Universityin Migration & Development Studies. He joined XISS in 1995 and served the institute as a lecturer till 2001. He joined as the Asst. Director in the year 2011. His late detection of cancer led to a great loss for XISS family and also his demise, thereby leading to the end of his tenure on 23rd May 2016.
Fr. Xavier Soreng, who was also a childhood friend of Late Dr. Fr. Toppo grieved about his unlucky departure and shared memories with the XISS family during the memorial service. He said, “Fr. Ranjitwas an excellent actor during his schooldays and embodied the values given to him in his way of life.” Fr. Ekka said, “Fr.Ranjit remained very calm during tough times and exhibited immense strength even during the last days of his life.”
The memorial service was then followed by a tribute ceremony, attended by all the students, alumnus and faculty members of XISS. The ceremony was conducted by Prof. M.S.Bodra. She invited all the H.O.Ds of XISS (Prof. S R Shauq – HRM, Prof. K K Bhagat – RM, Prof. A R Bodra – Marketing, Prof. S R Roy – IT, Dr.Ratnesh Chaturvedi – Finance) to pay a tribute in the loving memory of Fr. Ranjit. All the speakers fondly recollected their last interactions with Fr. Ranjit and expressed sorrow for the loss of such a great personality.
The event was made successful by the contribution of Dr.Shyamal Gomes, Dr. M K Spring, Prof. Nidhi Shukla, Prof.Bhaskar Bhavani, Prof. Sajeet Lakra, Prof. H K Singh and the media club – Obscura.
