New York Times Media Columnist David Carr dies in his office.13 February 2015 :: Media columnist David Carr, who wrote the Media Equation column for The New York Times and penned a memoir about his fight with drug addiction, collapsed at his office and died. He was 58.

David Michael Carr ( September 8, 1956 – February 12, 2015 ) was an American columnist and author. He wrote the Media Equation column and covered culture for The New York Times. Carr was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1956, and raised in nearby suburb Minnetonka. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he majored in psychology and journalism. Carr was a former editor of the Twin Cities Reader and the Washington City Paper. He was featured prominently in the 2011 documentary Page One : Inside the New York Times.
