Only 33% people Knows that 'Dronacharya Award' is given to Coaches , says lenseyenews.com Online Poll.27 January 2013  :: In a weekly Poll survey by Lenseye.co, Only 33% people Knows that ‘Dronacharya Award’ is given to Coaches, Where as 67% said Dronacharya Award is given to Sports Editors.

  Dronacharya Award

Dronacharya Award is an award presented by the government of India for excellence in sports coaching. The award comprises a bronze statuette of Dronacharya, a scroll of honour and a cash component of Rs.500,000. The award was instituted in 1985.
As the best sportsperson award is named Arjuna Award, it is appropriate that the coaching award is named after Dronacharya, as he was the Guru of Arjuna. Shri B.I. Fernadez was the First foreign Coach who was awarded by Dronacharya Award in 2012. He is a Boxing coach
