Ranchi, Jharkhand | July | 12, 2018 :: Ranchi University (RU) is a public teaching-cum-affiliating university located in Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand, India. Established in 1960.
The current acting Vice-Chancellor of Ranchi University is R. K. Pandey.
RU was established on 12 July 1960 and its first vice chancellor was Vishnudeo Narayan Singh.
In 1992, university was bifurcated to create Vinoba Bhave University, reducing its area by nearly half for proper administration. In 2009 university was divided twice – in January to create Nilamber Pitamber University, at Medininagar, and in August 2009 to create Kolhan University, at Chaibasa.
