Ranchi, Jharkhand May 17, 2015 :: SAIL was conferred the best BT-STAR PSU Award for its R&D and innovations in the Category of Maharatna and Navaratna PSUs in a glittering Ceremony at Le-Meridian Hotel New Delhi in late evening of Friday 15th May, 2015. The award was received by ED, RDCIS Dr. BK Jha.
To grace this occasion noted Ghazal Singer of Pakistan Ghulam Ali jee was present. Also present were Minister of State of HRD Shri Ram Shanker Katheria, Lt. Gov. Andaman & Nicobar AK Singh, Indresh Kumar and 10 CMDs of other PSUs. The other four nominations for this award with SAIL were HAL, ONGC, NTPC and SHCI; and on-spot Declaration by the Jury declared as the winner.
The Jury members include eminent figures like Ashwani Kumar Datt [ former chairman and managing director of Bharat Electronics Limited ], Sudhir Kumar Chaturvedi [ former MD and Chairman of POWERGRID ], Radhey Shyam Sharma [ Former CMD, ONGC ], R K Tyagi [ former CMD, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd ] and N M Borah [ former CMD, Oil India Limited ] under the leadership of Chewong Phunsog, a legendary figure in the field of Public administration. While the organizing committee was guided by Bhaskar Chatterjee [ Director General & CEO of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs ].
SAIL has spent Rs.400 Crores on R&D in last three years and taken adequate initiatives to internalize e-Governance in the Organization. It has come out with 71 new products in last three years among which Earthquake resistant steel in forms of TMT bars, Plates and Structurals have underscored relevance in today’s Seismic arena. It is at RDCIS’s initiative that BIS has set standards for this steel grade. Also for withstanding the high corrosion in Sea Transportation and Petrochemical industry SAIL’s NACE quality plates developed by RDCIS, Ranchi are impeccable. 58 National Awards were won by RDCIS, Ranchi and its Process innovations brought about more than 1600 crores in last three years
