Reserve Bank of India organises "e-Baat" programme at XLRI, JamshedpurJamshedpur, Jharkhand | October | 27, 2015 ::  In an endeavor to promote the usage of e-Mode for banking transactions and shift towards a cash less and paper less economy, Reserve Bank of India, Patna organised an electronic banking awareness and training programme titled, “e-Baat” at XLRI, Jamshedpur, in association with Bank of India. M.K.Verma ,Regional Director, RBI, Bihar & Jharkhand chaired the programme which was attended by Brij Raj, DGM, RBI Patna, Smt. Shailaja Singh, AGM, RBI Patna, Alok Yadav, Regional Manager, Bank of India, Sanjay Prakash, Regional Manager, State Bank of India, Pankaj Srivastava, Regional Manager, Bank of Baroda, Suresh Sonthalia, President, Singbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), other senior officials of banks, office bearers of SCCI and was attended by around 150 persons from various sections of the society including bank customers and students of XLRI.
Shri Verma underscored the importance of e-Mode of banking in the context of neo initiatives taken by Govt. of India. He drew attention of the house towards the programme of Digital India launched by Union Government with a view to transform the country into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. He further stated that the need to make a transition towards e-Banking is not only required for efficient way of banking but also to address the environmental and climate issues. He further urged the banking fraternity to educate all with regard to electronic banking. He underscored several do’s and dont’s of e- banking to the audience and advised all to strictly abide by the laid down safety measures.
Other topics like RBI’s Monetary Policy, inflation, NPAs in banks, new bank licenses, interest rates, Foreign exchange management and the like were also discussed and queries put forth by students were answered to their satisfaction.
A power point presentation on various innovative e-Banking products including NEFT, RTGS, Mobile Banking, Internet wallet, Pre-Paid cards, Debit and Credit cards was shared with the audience. In the last part, the programme was open for Q&A session wherein several queries were raised by participants which were answered satisfactorily by RD, RBI, and other dignitaries on dais. Persons on dais were handed over small potted plants in keeping with our green initiative and the audience was asked to take forward the learnings from the session to their near and dear ones.
