RUSH 5.0 :: Theme of this year : Radioactive Resurgence

Ranchi, Jharkhand | February | 01, 2020 :: Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi, conducted the first day of RUSH 5.0 – the annual cultural and sports fest – at various locations in Ranchi. The day started with the lamp lighting ceremony by honorable Director Dr. Shailendra Singh, who was accompanied by the Student Association Chairperson, Mr. Nitin Singh. The students performed the welcome song, which was followed by a heart-warming speech by the Director, welcoming the participants who came from all parts of the country to take part in the event. “IIM Ranchi takes pride in all we have achieved, and we continue to strive and become an institute that is synonymous with education and progress,” said the Director Dr. Shailendra Singh.

RUSH 5.0 is our flagship event and has provided us with the opportunity to reach out to student fraternity across the country, as well as the corporate community. It has significantly contributed to reinforcing the brand of IIM Ranchi. The theme of this year, “Radioactive Resurgence,” symbolizes the power of the revolution of athletic and cultural fusion, which is now stronger than ever.

The first day of two-day extravaganza witnessed a plethora of engaging events in cultural and sports competitions. In sports, the football teams from IIM Ranchi went head to head with the team from Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) and came out on top with the final score of 2-0, while in another event of table tennis, the team from IIM Ranchi beat the team from MDI Murshidabad. After beating CUJ in straight sets in Badminton, RIMS played against IIM Ranchi and lost in a nail-biting finish. In cricket, the team from CUJ beat St. Xavier’s, and the finals are ongoing between IIM Ranchi and CUJ.


In music, students from MDI Murshidabad, Amity University, Ranchi, and IIM Ranchi performed solo and duet songs, which were judged by our honorable guest Ms. Suparna Barua. The winner and runner up of the singing competition were Mr. Sunny Kumar of BIT Sindhree and Nandini Sinha of Amity University, respectively, who won the hearts of the audience by their fantastic singing.

“The War of Bands,” an event that saw music bands of IIM Ranchi’ – ‘Booty More’ – battle it out with the group ”CRYOSLEEP” from School of Music Art & Training, Ranchi, giving one scintillating performance after the other.
