SMS based system to Track Malnourished Children in JharkhandRanchi, Jharkhand, 26 February 2015 :: Jharkhand Chief Minister Shri Raghubar Das today launched a web based system, developed by UNICEF, to monitor Severe Acute Malnourished (SAM)  Children in the state.

 The web based and SMS based system will track each SAM child, monitor weight gained by malnourished children and assess bed occupancy in MTCs. The system will send messages to Sahiyas and Anganwadi so that they can counsel caregivers of the malnourished children and bring them to the MTC for follow up.SMS based system to Track Malnourished Children in JharkhandThis information will be sent through SMS to the Principal Secretaries, Department of Health and Family Welfare & Women and Child Development; MD NRHM; department officials of Health & ICDS to improve linkages and referrals, as well as establish good coordination between these two department.

 There are 88 MTCs in the state, 3-4 in every district in the state with bed capacity to treat about 25,000 SAM children every year.
