The 5th Convocation of IIM Ranchi.

IIMRanchi, Jharkhand |  March | Tuesday | 29, 2016 ::  IIM Ranchi witnessed its fifth convocation on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Cockerel Auditorium, Dipatoli Cantonment, Ranchi. Post Graduate Diplomas were conferred on 159 students from the graduating batch of 2014-16 from the two programmes :

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) = 122 students
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) = 37 students

The ceremony started with the academic procession followed by invocation, Prof. Anindya Sen, Director In-charge welcomed R. Gopalakrishnan, Former Director, TATA Sons Limited, the Chief Guest of the Ceremony, Chairman, Board of Governors, Faculty Members and the guests. Chief Guest, presented the Gold & Silver medals, Certificate of Merit and Book Prizes to the students for their academic excellence, Best Summer Internship project and to the Best Outgoing Student and other prize-winners.

The recipient of the awards are :

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) (2014-16 batch)

First Position (Recipient of Gold Medal, Certificate of Merit & Book Prize) = Avneet Pal Singh, his name has been included in the honour roll of the institute for the year 2016.

Second Position (Recipient of Silver Medal, Certificate of Merit & Book Prize) = jointly shared by Nagineni Amaresh Krishna and Piyush Jain. Their names has been included in the honour roll of the institute for the year 2016.

Fourth Position (Recipient of Book Prize) = Ms. Annie Abbas

Fifth Position (Recipient of Book Prize) = jointly shared by Sayan Kar & Ms. Oindrila Mandal

Seventh Position (Recipient of Book Prize) = Harsh Marodia

Eighth Position (Recipient of Book Prize) = Ms. Akanksha Gupta

Ninth Position (Recipient of Book Prize) = Ms. Gauri Rajpal

Tenth Position (Recipient of Book Prize) = Ms. Ankita

Best Outgoing Student (Recipient of Gold Medal, Certificate of Merit & Book Prize) =  Piyush Jain

For winning the Best SIP Project in the Strategic Management area, Shahzeb Feroz also gets

“Prof. Ashish Hajela Memorial Award” that has been instituted from this year in memory of late faculty “Prof. Asish Hajela” who expired on 30 December 2014.

Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) (2014-16 batch)

First Position (Recipient of Gold Medal, Certificate of Merit & Book Prize) = Ms. Nandiraju V. S.

Her name has been included in the institute’s Honour roll for the year 2016.

Second Position (Recipient of Silver Medal, Certificate of Merit & Book Prize)= Ms. Megha Deb

Third Position (Recipient of Certificate of Merit & Book Prize) = Ms. Anshu Shalinee

Fourth Position (Recipient of Book Prize) = Ms. Radhika Kalia

Fifth Position (Recipient of Book Prize) = Ms. Chakshu kalra

Best Outgoing Student (Recipient of Gold Medal, Certificate of Merit & Book Prize) = Ms. Chakshu kalra

Ms. Jyoti Khatri was awarded the certificate of merit and book prize for the Best Summer

Internship Project in the HR area from the programme.

Prof. Sen while presenting the annual report of activity of IIM Ranchi, mentioned about new

initiatives that took place during the year like: Aarohan – Leadership Speak Series & GIAN a new program initiated by the Government of India in Higher Education aimed at tapping the talent pool of scientists and entrepreneurs

Prof. Sen congratulated all the graduating students, Recipient of the Medals, Awards & Book Prizes. He encouraged them saying “If you believe in what you’re saying, if you believe in what you’re doing, you’ll be more effective, more passionate and more authentic in everything you do.”

Chief Guest  R. Gopalakrishnan, during his address at the convocation, mesmerized the audience with his motivational statement. All graduating students heard him in rapt attention as he encouraged them with his speech saying “Before becoming a successful leader, it is essential to be a great subordinate”.

It was followed by the award of Diploma to the graduating students by Chairman, Board of Governor, IIM Ranchi. The convocation was attended by educationists, dignitaries, army officials, graduating students and their parents. Chairperson PGDM, Prof Amarendu Nandy delivered the Vote of Thanks. The ceremony was concluded with the National Anthem.
