UNICEF’s “ENDviolence against children” campaign sessions in Ormanjhi schools

UNICEF's "ENDviolence against children" campaign sessions in Ormanjhi schoolsOrmanjhi, Jharkhand 18 February 2015 :: The ENDviolence against children campaign led by Jharkhand Police and UNICEF with support of the departments of HRD and Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, JHALSA, media and civil society organizations was launched last year in October 2014. The slogan of the campaign is “Ab Aur Nahin. Mat Chupao, Aawaz Uthao”.UNICEF's "ENDviolence against children" campaign sessions in Ormanjhi schoolsAs part of this campaign learning sessions with over 400 students of AG Church School, Mishan Adivasi Mission School & A-One Public School in Neori, Ormanjhi.

Addressing the students Ms. Sampat Meena, IG CID, Jharkhand Police said, “All children have a human right to survival and development. They need to be aware of good and bad touch and must raise their voice against abuse. Children can speak to a person they trust and report all such incidents on the helpline number 88 77 44 44 44. There should be ‘zero tolerance’ for violence against boys and girls”.UNICEF's "ENDviolence against children" campaign sessions in Ormanjhi schoolsPriti Srivastava, Child Protection Officer, UNICEF said, “Violence against children happens everywhere, every day. But it remains invisible and most cases are not reported. Violence and abuse negatively impacts children’s physical and mental health. A stigma is attached to talking about this issue in society. Adolescents too need to be made aware as to how to respond and prevent these situations. We must all come together to break the silence and raise our voice.” She also informed children about provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) 2012.UNICEF's "ENDviolence against children" campaign sessions in Ormanjhi schoolsThe programme was attended by Elizabeth Khess [ in-charge, A G Church School ], Mr. Krishna [ Principal of Mishan Adivasi Mission School ], Ms. Kanchan Rani [ Principal of A-One Public School ] and teachers of these schools.
