XISS :: Sports Week – Basketball Tournament

XISS :: Sports Week - Basketball TournamentRanchi, Jharkhand | January | Wednesday | 18, 2017 :: The inter department basketball tournament kick started with sky high energy levels and team spirit flowing throughout the basketball court. This yearly event has XISS all charged up, right from the faculty to the students!

The match was in attendance by the Assistant Director Rev. Fr. Pradeep Kerketta, the HOD of Finance, Prof. Ratnesh Chaturvedi, the HOD of Marketing, Prof. Anmol Bodra, Prof. Mary Shiela Bodra, Dr. Shayamal Gomes, Prof. Mrityunjoy Roy, Prof. Mahua Banerjee, Prof. Sajeet Lakra, Dr. Amar Tigga, and several others.

The first match between HRM-I and Finance-I, was a clean sweep by the boys of HRM I by 29-10. The boys of HRM I were seen sporting jerseys with the names of their mothers, which added an element of respect to the whole game.

The second match between the boys of HRM II and Marketing II was won by HRM II with some amazing shots by Sisirjali Soren, with the scoreboard at 21-14.

The third match held between the girls of HRM and Finance department, fuelled with energy from the cheering spectators, was thrilling till the very end. It was a neck to neck fight till the 2nd quarter with the scoreboard at 0-0. The crowd went wild as the HRM girls proceeded to take the winning shots, ending the match with a score of 7-0.

The fourth match was between the girls of Marketing I and IT I. Though the girls from IT I gave a tough fight, victory went to the girls of the Marketing department, with the score at 8-0 in the end!

The last match for the day between RM I and IT I concluded with 14-7 on the scoreboard. The crowd was screaming Gaurav and Rohit’s name as they scored baskets and defended the opponents, leading RM I to a victory.

The day ended with the crowd in high spirits and full of anticipation for the upcoming week. Sports Week has just started and there are series of matches lined up between teams geared up with strategies and winning spirits. Even though the first day just ended, the students were seen speculating about the final contenders to the much awaited finale for the tournament, scheduled on the 25th of January. The gest is to see which department would make the trophy theirs, this year.
