Government of Jharkhand’s delegation met Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the second day of Japan visit

Tokyo | October | 12, 2017 :: Government of Jharkhand’s  delegation to Japan  led by Chief Minister of Raghubar Das on the second day of Japan visit met Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) represented by  Junichi Yamada, Sr VP. The delegation discussed on the possibility of JICA support & funding for infrastructure projects in Jharkhand such as Smart city, metro Rail, Urban Infrastructure, Water & Sanitation, and other projects of social relevance.
Chief Minister chaired the Jharkhand Investment road show, wherein he emphasized on the strength and showcased the business prowess of the state. In his address to the august gathering of over 100 delegates,  CM calls for support from JETRO, JICA and METI in initiatives of Infrastructure development. CM stressed that Infrastructure and ESDM is one of our focus sectors and the States has in offering special package to Japanese companies willing to invest in Jharkhand. CM proposes for possible collaboration of Technical institutions of the state with Japanese Institutions under Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM).

The Indian Ambassador to Japan HE Sujan R Chinoy in his address projected Jharkhand as the most progressive state of India with consistent double digit growth rate.

The roadshow was followed by a networking buffet lunch with the local industry fraternity. The CM met office-bearers of Japanese organisations where he assured the prospective investors regarding the industrial environment offered by the state. The companies discussed in length regarding their requirement and expectations. The CM reaffirmed the government policy of less paper & more work.
Secretary Industries in his presentation explained the benefits of investing in Jharkhand and explained key policies of the State. Chief Secretary in Her address urged the investors to visit Jharkhand saying that it is a fast progressing state and an ideal investment destination. She stressed that the state is offering all requisite infrastructures in place and already progressing at a double digit growth rate that places the state as a pioneer amongst Indian states.
CM had a series of important B2G meetings that may change the course of investment by the Japanese companies in the state. He met the heads of prominent Japanese companies and had held fruitful discussions about investment avenues.  Chief Minister held discussions on investment possibilities and requirement of Japanese companies to set foot in the state. The CM put forth the different facets of positive change coming in the industrial environment offered by the state.

Key points of Discussion with Japanese Companies in B2G meetings
• ISE Foods INC is considering to setup their poultry facilities in India. The company will own and operate poultry farms in Jharkhand. The company has proposed to produces nutritional chicken eggs through improving the breeding and genetics of domestic chicken in Jharkhand. The company will visit Jharkhand to study the opportunities.• Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation plans to expand footprint in India, Jharkhand is in consideration.• UNIQLO retail stores considering to expand its retail chain in India, a delegation to visit Jharkhand.• Official from Sojitz Group to visit Jharkhand for exploring opportunities in verticals of Industrial Park, Engineering and Energy.• Mitsui & Co is considering for a partnership with Government of Jharkhand for Textile/ craft, Food Sectors• NEC Corporation is exploring opportunities in IT and ESDM sector including R&D and product development.• Itochu Logistics will explore the opportunity in the state for dry port management and total strategic logistics management solution
The visit to Tokyo ended on a positive note, unprecedented keenness was witnessed among Japanese business and commercial establishments for investment in Jharkhand. The CM confirmed that separate clusters are being planned to be developed in Jharkhand especially for Japanese and South East Asian countries, which got an overwhelming response from the industrial fraternity.
