IIM Ranchi : The 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi and the Closing Ceremony of Swachchta Hi Seva Campaign

Ranchi, Jharkhand | October | 02, 2019 :: On October 2nd 2019, IIM Ranchi celebrated 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the Closing Ceremony of Swachchta Hi Seva Campaign (Which was started on September 11, 2019).

The programme was attended by the Students, Faculty and Staff members of the Institute. Prof. Shailendra Singh, Honourable Director, IIM Ranchi addressed the gathering. He mentioned Gandhi ji’s view on Swadeshi, Primary Education, Occupational Training, importance of Small Enterprises, Health, Clean Environment and Individual Cleanliness. During his speech, Prof. Singh gave the brief description on Gandhiji’s vision on positive aspects of Seven Social Sense, which are:
1. Politics without Principle.
2. Pleasure without Conscience.
3. Wealth without Work.
4. Science without Humanity.
5. Commerce without Morality.
6. Worship without Sacrifice.
7. Education without Character.
While concluding his speech, he emphasised on 1. Cleanliness 2. Elimination of single use plastic and 3. Water Management.
After this, student presented a brief report related to their campaign at some villages adopted by IIM Ranchi under Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan. The campaign was on Swachchta Hi Seva, water conservation drive and awareness on refusal of single use plastic.
A presentation was made on Water Management at our upcoming permanent campus by Mr. Probhunath Rawat, consultant Campus Development.
At last, a token of appreciation was presented to the House keeping staff of IIM Ranchi for their support and effort to keep the campus clean.
