Ranchi, Jharkhand | November | 16, 2022 : A three-days International seminar on “Revisiting Janjatiya Gaurav: A legacy of language, culture and civilization” was organised by centre for Endangered Languages & Department of Anthropology and Tribal Studies department concluded today with the valedictory session at the administrative building Manatu campus, Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ).
The event was marked by the presence of Chairperson Prof. Kshiti Bhusan Das Vice Chancellor CUJ, Chief Guest Dr. Asha Lakra Mayor, Ranchi, Jharkhand and Valedictory Speaker Prof. Basant Kumar Panda Director centre for excellence for studies in classical Odia language.
In his address to the gathering Prof. Basant Kumar Panda quoted Rabindra Nath Tagore informing how civilization began from the forest, he also siad that the origin of life is “Jan Jatiya” and reminded the audience that our beliefs, ethnicity are closely related to tribals.
In her speech to the audience Chief Guest Dr. Asha Lakra Mayor, Ranchi, Jharkhand talked about sacrifices and sufferings of Birsa Munda and the way he voiced against the Britishers, she also called for unity in the nation and praised our honourable Prime Minister’s efforts for uplifting the tribal culture.
Later on Chairperson Prof. Kshiti Bhusan Das Vice Chancellor CUJ spoke about importance of development and growth of panchayat by disseminating education at the rural levels. He also motivated students for active participation in politics and pondered upon the role of CUJ in saving environment, preventing climate change and access to technology for all. Finally he marked the event as successful and assured of more such programmes in future.
The event was preceded by an inaugural session wherein two books dedicated to the legacy of the unsung warriors of Jharkhand were launched followed by hundred paper presentations by faculty members and students of different universities.
