Ranchi, Jharkhand | August | Friday | 28, 2015 :: The Annual Day of the Secondary section (‘SPLASH’) was held on 28 August, at DPS Ranchi, which was yet again a portrayal of versatility and various multifaceted talents of the students. The programme began with the Santhali Dance troop of the school extending a hearty welcome to all our distinguished guests spreading the aura of Jharkhand’s rich culture and heritage. This was followed by the lighting of the inaugural lamp and felicitation of the revered guests. The Chief Guest for today’s programme was Smt Pooja Singhal [ Additional Secretary, Dept of Agriculture, Govt. of Jharkhand ] and the Guest of Honour was the Pro-vice Chairman of the School.The Principal Dr. Ram Singh while addressing the gathering focused on the various endeavours taken up by the school to provide a wide range of skill and interest for the all round development of children. It was also stated by him that DPS Ranchi is totally committed to the cause of meeting the needs of every child to the utmost ability. He also spoke about the splendid performance of the children in the board exams and other competitive exams. The head of the institution strongly emphasized here in DPS we maintain a three way partnership in which parents are a tremendous support.
The students then presented a spectacular performance – ‘Ganesha Avataran’ in which the students magnificently depicted how Lord Ganesha got his trunk. Their agile and rhythmic steps captivated the audience.
The students of class IX and X staged the play ‘Dear departed’ which essayed the modern day family issues whereby children are now so much interested in materialistic pleasures, that they abandon their duty towards their parents. Vaibhav as the GrandFather earned a lot of accolades from the audience and so did Soumya Bhattacharya and Aditya Singh as Mr. Jordan and Henry Slater.After this the students of Class VI presented amazing formations through Yoga. The brilliant performance left the audience totally mesmerised. The world is turning into a global village and this feature was portrayed by the students through the French Song and Dance. The fire of patriotism burns in each and every Indian and the students presented this with the melodious symphony of instrumental music of the songs ‘Jaha Daal Daal Pe’, ‘Dil diya hai Jaan bhi denge’, ‘Suno gaur se duniya walon’ and ‘Vande Mataram’. The programme which stole the show and left a audience spell bound was the programme on women empowerment which depicted Goddess Durga, Goddess Kali as the epitome of strength and symbols of victory of Good over Evil. The children through their agile and graceful movements beautifully brought out the injustice done against women.
Academic subjects and extra-curricular activities complement each other and with this idea in mind this day was chosen to appreciate the commendable performance of the students in class X board exams. A total number of 106 students secured 10 CGPA and all these students were felicitated in a grand and memorable manner .On this occasion the brilliant performance of children in NCO, NSO, IMO and IEO was also applauded. Suyash Mishra was the topper in NCO while Spandan Mitra excelled in NSO. Ankit Kumar Jain (State Rank – 1st), Wasif Jawad Hussain (State Rank – 2nd) and Aditya Abhishek (State Rank 3rd) proved their mettle in IMO. Malay Dewashish, Sneha , Samyak and Pratyush Thakur were awarded for their performance in IEO. Tiyasha Mitra was awarded for her meritorious performance in Science Olympiad. The prizes were given away by the Honourable Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.The Guest of Honour M.K. Burman appreciated the stellar performance of the students and praised the school for taking special care in order to build a strong foundation. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks.
