Engineer’s Day 2022 celebrated at ICFAI University

 

Ranchi, Jharkhand  | September  | 16, 2022 ::  Engineer’s Day 2022 was celebrated at the ICFAI University, Jharkhand campus, wherein the HODs, faculties and students of all programs participated enthusiastically. Mr. Rakesh K. Nandkeolyar, General Manager (Technical), Ranchi Smart City Corporation Ltd. was the guest of honour during the program. The theme for the program was “A Better World with Smart Engineers’.”

The program started with the lighting of the lamp and paying homage to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on the occasion of his 161st birthday.

Welcoming the guest, faculties and the students to the event, Prof O R S Rao, Vice-Chancellor of ICFAI University said, “Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, in whose memory Engineers’ Day is being celebrated , is also known as Father of Engineering, as he was the first Indian Engineer that contributed a lot to leverage technology to solve problems like flooding, irrigation etc. Elaborating on the theme, he exhorted the students to aspire to become Smart Engineers so that they can contribute for a better world which can offer a better quality of life to the people. Referring to the simple life of Sir Visvesvaraya, wherein he had to work hard to get educated as an engineer, he advised the students to inculcate aspects like hard work, perseverance and his dictum of “less talk and more work”.

Addressing the participants, Mr. Rakesh Kumar Nandkeolyar said “Being an engineer gives me a proud feeling, as engineers play a crucial role in the development of a nation. The day is celebrated as a tribute to the first, and one of the greatest ever engineers hailing from India. He focussed on infrastructural development by engineers for smart living. ”. Mr Rakesh Kumar also explained the plans of Ranchi Smart City Corporation and how it will help in improving the quality of life of citizens.

A variety of programs such as live science working models, poster presentation and speech competition were organized by the students to showcase their talents. A video of live sketch making of Sir Visvesaraya by Mr. Anjith, a B.Tech(Min) VII Semester student was appreciated by all. The competitions were judged by the guests and the heads of departments. The winners were given awards of recognition by the University for their hard work and dedication in showcasing their talents. In model presentation the awardees were Mr. Anjith Kumar & team (B.Tech(Min) VII Sem), second were Mr. Rohit Kumar Sahu & team B.Tech(ME) V Sem) and third were Mr. Badrinath Prajapati & group (B.Tech(CS) I Sem). In Poster Presentation, the winners were first – Ms. Muskan Kumari (BBA LLB VII Sem), second- Ms. Neha Priya (MBA III Sem) and third- Ms. Ruchy Srivastava (MBA III Sem). In speech competition the winners were first- Mr. Prashant (BA LLB, I Sem), second – Ms. Neha Priya (MBA III Sem) and third- Mr. Gaurav Chandra (MBA I Sem).

Prof Arvind Kumar, Registrar of the University, proposed the vote of thanks. A number of students and faculty members participated in the function.
