Gabbar is Back is an upcoming Hindi action drama film directed by Krish and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. Featuring Akshay Kumar in the title role, the film is a remake of the 2002 Tamil film Ramanaa directed by A. R. Murugadoss with Vijayakanth in the lead. Shruti Haasan Jaideep Ahlawat and Ishita Vyas did supporting roles,and Kareena Kapoor Khan appears in a cameo. The film is scheduled for release on 1 May 2015. The project was initially titled as Ramana, much likely to be the original, creative maverick Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is well known to be extremely particular about the titles, suggested calling it to be Gabbar is Back.
