HEC ties up with Cummins during the “Make in India" week in Mumbai.Ranchi, Jharkhand | February | Thursday | 18, 2016 :: In line with the Govt of India national programme of “Make in India” and the recent “Comprehensive Policy on Capital Goods Sector”, announced by it in Mumbai, HEC & Cummins signed a MOU for supply of engines for dozers to be supplied by Chetra, Russia and assembled at HEC Ltd Ranchi. V.Vittal, Business Leader, Mining, Cummins India Limited & Avijit Ghosh, CMD, HEC have signed the said MoU during the seminar on “Construction Equipment and Technology” held in Mumbai on 17th Feb, 2016. The tie up was entered into in the presence of Rajan S. Katoch, Secretary, Department of Heavy Industries, GoI and Vishvajit Sahay Jt Secretary, DHI, GoI.

Earlier in March 2015, HEC had entered into an agreement by way of a MoU with Concern ‘Tractor Plants’ “Chetra” – a Russian firm located at Cheboksary covering joint co-operation for assembly and production of Dozers and Pipe Layers in India.

Chetra has been supplying Dozers to the subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd. and other mining customers. The company also has wide market in India for Pipe Layers and has made supplies to the energy & Oil Sector.

Chetra and HEC have planned to later localize the manufacturing. To start with, the engine and radiator shall be sourced from Indian firms and the MoU with Cummins has provided the required impetus for HEC to Make in India. With a new product in its kit, HEC eyes to be major supplier of Dozers after the aunch. Other products of HEC on the anvil are: Hydraulic Excavator and Pipe Layers.
