Ranchi, Jharkhand | August | 02, 2020 :: Indian Institute of Management Ranchi welcomed the Batch of 2020-22, with much grandeur, conducted on a Google Meet, following the virtual protocol of the New Normal. Prof. Shailendra Singh, Director of IIM Ranchi, along with other faculty members, inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp. Prof. Pradip Kumar Bala, PGP Chairperson, IIM Ranchi, and Prof. Piyali Ghosh, PGP-HRM Chairperson, IIM Ranchi, warmly addressed the students by an empowering speech. Their speech, describing the institute’s journey and everlasting glory, boosted the students’ confidence before entering one of the best B-schools in the country.
Director Shailendra Singh, with his speech, empowered the students to make the best of what the institute has to offers and respect the institute’s pride and sanctity in all their future endeavours. Faculty introductions and an academic overview by Shri Asis Chakraborty gave the students a glimpse of their journey’s academic aspect. The First Day of the induction concluded with a creative workshop organized by Dance/Movement Therapy Practitioner, Ms. Dhara Mehra, Founder at The Opposable Thumb, and Froggy Feet- The Dance Group of IIM Ranchi. The workshop included beginner to moderate level training on Creative body movements and storytelling through facial expressions with music, the second part of which continued the next day.
Day 2 began with an inspiring speech by our honourable Chief Guest, Mr. Anup Majumdar, CEO, Trariti Consulting Group. Taking excerpts from his industrial experience, he stressed the importance of networking, and all that one should experience and get from their MBA journey. An emotional video clip from the Alumni fraternity of IIM Ranchi was played, followed by Prof. Gaurav Marathe, addressing the students. In an interactive session with Surabhi Sethi and Jasmeet Singh Bindra, from the Batch of 2018-20, Sir, portrayed a picture of life at IIMR drawing from their experience. Part two of the workshop, where the students were introduced to clowning activities based on our principles of hard work, honesty, and humility plus basic and quick stress-relieving exercises, concluded the event.
Meanwhile students engaged in the Management Challenges organized virtually post the formal events, giving them a flavour of all the struggles and deadlines, they might experience in the journey ahead. The senior batch conducted a series of activities, throughout the week, giving their juniors a platform to test and practice their networking, communication and organizing skills working in teams.
