Jharkhand :: 5,504 Youth have been imparted training with certificates to 3,509 and Employment to 1,834 youths

5,504 youth have been imparted training with certificates to 3,509 and employment to 1,834 youths

In this era of technology for a future which is free of obstacles it is pertinent that everyone should strive to become skilled. Considering this aspect, the West Singhbhum district is trying to implement the ambitious program to make the youth in the age group of 18 to 35, self-reliant. The process of making youths and women of the district self-reliant by making them skilled in the trade of their interest is underway. For this, a total of five skill development centres are functioning in the West Singhbhum district and there is a possibility of three additional centres to be made functional in the next one or two months. Under this, a MoU has been signed with the Tata Steel Foundation which has taken up the operation of Skill Training Institute which provides important skills in various trades in Chaibasa district. The district administration is giving utmost priority to the operation of the Skill Development Centre, where apart from the training, residential and non-residential facilities, food and accommodation are also completely free of cost. At present, a total of four Skill Development Centres are functional under the State Sustainable Scheme and one from the District Aspirational Fund. After the registration of a total of 7,323 youths, training has been imparted to 5,504 youths, 3,509 youths have been provided with certificates, and employment opportunities on the basis of placements have been extended to 1,834 youths.

There is a certain vibe of confidence amongst the youth who have become skilled and self-reliant after receiving training from the Skill Development Centre. Bharti Tirkey, a resident of Sadpatka village in Manoharpur, says that she was very interested in studies but due to the limited income of her farmer father, she had to leave her studies after class 12th. After getting information about the free Skill Training Centre functioning in the Manoharpur block, Bharti got herself enrolled in the trade of sewing machine operator in October 2021 and after three months of training she was selected for the KPR Group- Coimbatore in campus placement drive and today she is drawing a salary of ? 10,500 per month. Narsingh Tubid, a resident of Bedasai, recounts that even after not having much financial prosperity, he wished to pursue training and skill development in a trade. He was extended support by the first Skill Development Centre where he received training for a trimester in the automotive sector and at present he is working with Swaraj Tractor Workshop located in Chaibasa. Narsingh is elated and excited to be employed in his own district.
