Birmingham, 16 August 2014 :: Lahore Lions registers their 2nd consecutive win by defeating Royal Kings USA by 62-50 in the fifth match of the Wave World Kabaddi League 2014 today here in Birmingham at the LG Arena. Last week both the teams Royal Kings USA and Lahore Lions registered their first win against California Eagles and Vancouver Lions respectively. The second leg of the international Kabaddi league saw an opening performance by Angrez Ali a UK based singer who crooned Punjabi beats.
The first quarter of the match started on a very exciting note where both the teams gave their best and saw a neck to neck fight. The initial six minutes was fully occupied by Lahore Lions and maintained the lead over Royal Kings USA. Lala Waidullah from Lahore Lions kept up the pace and scored the first point for the team in the very first raid. In the very next raid Shafiq Ahmed Chisti scored another point for Lahore Lions. Royal Kings USA did not give up and Daljit Singh scored the first point for the team taking the score to 2-1. Akmal Shazad Dogar the star raider from Lahore Lions was stopped by Nirbhai Singh to gain 1 point for Royal Kings USA. The match became more exciting and it was a neck to neck competition for both the teams. Royal Kings USA did not lose hope and bounced back in the 7th minute of the match to take a lead over Lahore Lions with the score moving to 13-12. Both the teams fought back well and the first quarter of the game ended with a tie on the scoreboard with 16-16 points.The second quarter saw an exciting fight between Royal Kings USA and Lahore Lions. Although the first quarter saw a tie between both the teams but the second quarter was completely dominated by the Lahore Lions. The star raiders Lala Waidullah, Shafiq Ahmed Chisti and Akmal Shazad Dogar took away complete control of the match from Royal Kings USA. Shafiq Ahmed Chisti was the star raider of this quarter as all his 9 raids in today’s match were successful. Even though players like Daljit Singh and Narinder Singh aka Niku from Royal Kings USA performed excellently and scored points for their team. The last raid of the quarter was done by Maninder Singh from Royal Kings USA but was stopped successfully by Mohsin. But by the end of half time Lahore Lions got a lead of 10 points taking the score to 26-36.
Lahore Lions started the 3rd quarter with complete confidence with a lead of 10 points. Lahore Lions kept on scoring over Royal Kings USA and dominated this quarter as well. As the match went, the lead further increased to a difference of 12 points. There seemed to be a good fight between Shafiq Ahmed Chisti and Rabo as every time Chisti came for the raid Rabo tried to stop him but was unable to do so throughout the quarter. Royal Kings made their best effort to bounce back and succeeded a bit by bringing down the lead to a 7 point difference with a score of 37-44 on the scoreboard.The final quarter showed some exuberant performance by the teams who went on loggerhead with each other gasping for smack down and lead their team to success. Some raving performance by the Lahore Lions led to a victory and widening their point difference from 7 to 12, thereby, resulting to a final score of 50-62. Chisti being invincible, marching through the opponent court with dominance and aggression, accompanied Dogar and Lala the invincible raider reining the final quarter. On the other hand Narinder Singh and Gurlal Singh were the strike raiders for the Royal King USA with almost 67% success. The game was a marching victory attained by Lahore Lions at the feat of aggression, agility and evolving stronger gaining momentum in every minute.
