28 January 2015 :: US President Barack Obama and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s relaxed manner together during the visit was dubbed a “bromance” in India media, after the two men shared tea in a lotus garden, recorded a radio show, ‘Mann Ki Baat’ together, and spent two hours chatting at a rain-splashed military parade.
The 35-minute special broadcast of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, between Modi and Obama, touched on issues like girl child, public health and personal experiences of the two leaders, both of whom have risen from humble backgrounds to assume to top positions of the respective countries.
In between, they sealed deals to unlock billions of dollars in nuclear trade and deepen defence ties, and Obama pledged $4 billion in financial backing to release the “untapped potential” of a partnership between the world’s largest democracies.
