National Handloom Day at DPS Ranchi

National Handloom Day at DPS RanchiRanchi, Jharkhand | August | Friday | 07, 2015 :: First National Handloom day was celebrated on 7th August, 2015, this is launched by the honorable Prime Minister of India and as the part of this programe a speech competition was organised in Delhi Public School Ranchi on the same day. This programe was worked out in association with Jharcraft and NABARD. The Main Motive of this day is to generate awareness about the importance of handloom industry as a part of our rich heritage and culture, promote handloom products and lead to increase in income of weavers as well as enhance their confidence and pride.
The chief guest for todays programe was A.T. Mishra, IFS special secretary cum Director Handloom, sericulture and Handicrafts and managing director. Jharcraft, Department of industry Government of Jharkhand and Kaushal Sinha from NABARD was also present. In his address the chief guest stated how these ventures will hold a great importance in promoting the handicrafts and handlooms and thereby helping us to take a step forward towards development.
Dr. Ram Singh, Principal DPS Ranchi spoke about the importance of handloom in association with Indian culture and heritage. He also stated that in future plans to work in association with Jharcraft to create a platform for the children in the field of skill development.
On this occasion a speech competition was organised, in which students of 6th to 9thtook part and spoke on the topic Ways and Means to Enhance Handloom Potential in India. Children though being of such a tender age threw light on some of the great points which could be seriously on. Shristhi of class VII spoke about to be taken like cooperatives should be developed branding and handloom should be done enhance marketing. Kasturi of class VIII said that traditional significance highlighted about the traditional significance & cultural heritage is important 13 million people are employed in this sector.Kkungshuk Banerjee of class VII stood first and Shiksha Akhouri of class VI stood second in the six to seven group and in the other group Adita Suyash of class IX stood first and Tejas of the same class stood second. The prizes were given away by A.T . Mishra and Kaushal Sinha and mementos were given to all the participants. The mementos were sponsored by Jharcraft and NABARD together.
This programme was highly appreciated by everyone and Jharcraft mission of creating opportunities and changing lives will surely be successful through such adventures.
