Ranchi, Jharkhand | August | 17, 2021 :: Padmashri Ashok Bhagat termed tribal life style ‘Sanatan Dharma’ in concluding lecture of seven-day online lecture series organised by Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) from World Indigenous Day (August 9) to August 15.
In the programme, which was convened by CUJ registrar Shivendra Prasad, Bhagat, who is also founder of Vikas Bharti, an NGO working for the development of tribal in Jharkhand, comparing the tribal life style with practices of Sanatan Dharma said those whom we think backward have high value.
“We need to learn social harmony, co-operation, mutual trust and self dependence from tribes,” Bhagat said.
Discussing the contribution of tribal in freedom movement, Bhagat said: “Tribal never accept slavery and have always kept on agitating. Before Gandhi, they started a non cooperation movement between 1914 to 1916. Those who participated in a stretch between Latehar to Hazaribagh were called Tana Bhagat.”
Talking about the knowledge, Bhagat said: “During corona pandemic only those herbs are working which tribal society keeps safe.”
First lecture of the series was delivered by former union minister Padma Bhusan Karia Munda who had stressed upon the research on the benefits tribal are getting from the government which was launched for their development since Independence and based on the outcome of research schemes should be reviewed according to present situation.
Munda said tribal live with nature and protect nature and thus people should follow the life style of society
University vice chancellor Kshiti Bhusan Das had extended his full cooperation to the online programme and stressed upon the need of that education system which is of the interest of the tribal. He also stressed upon the beginning of course based on their culture and language.
