01 March 2015 :: Peoples Democratic Party [ PDP ] leader Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Takes Oath as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. This is his second stint as the Chief Minister. He held the post between 2002 and 2005 in a rotational arrangement with then ally Congress.
PDP has eleven Cabinet Ministers, including Sayeed himself & BJP has six, including separatist-turned mainstream politician Sajjad Lone.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with BJP chief Amit Shah, veteran leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar attended the ceremony, which took place at Jammu University’s General Zorawar Singh Auditorium.
A twenty five members cabinet took oath, including BJP’s Nirmal Singh, who will be the state’s Deputy Chief Minister. Separatist-turned-politician and People’s Conference leader Sajjad Lone has joined the government.
Mufti Mohammad Sayeed
Mufti Mohammad Sayeed (born January 12, 1936, Bijbehara) is a politician from the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India. He is the current Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He previously served as Chief Minister from November 2, 2002, to November 2, 2005. He founded the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party, in July 1999 to “persuade the Government of India to initiate an unconditional dialogue with Kashmiris for resolution of the Kashmir problem.”
