Phase -II of Campaign ‘Sangini’ in Delhi.

 Delhi | July | 29, 2018 :: DLSA (North-East, Shahdara & East) and in co-ordination with Indian Medical Association, jointly inaugurated Phase – II of campaign ‘Sangini’ at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidhalaya, E-Block, Nand Nagari, Delhi, to spread awareness about menstrual health and hygiene amongst adolescent girls in the schools. This campaign shall also address various social myths attached to menstruation and shall make girl students confident to attend school without abstienence owing to the concerns related to menstruation.

The inaugural programme of Phase-II of the campaign was graced by Sh. Arvind Bansal, Sh. Akash Jain, Sh. Pawan Kumar, Secretaries, of all three DLSAs (East, North-East & Shahdara), Dr. Neelam Lekhi, Vice-Chairperson, Indian Medical Association (Mission Pink Health), Dr. Ajay Lekhi, Dr. Alka Chaudhary, Principal, SKV, E-Block, Nand Nagari, Delhi and officers of BSES Yamuna Power Limited amongst others.
Dr. Surbhi Singh, Gyanacologist and President Sachhi Saheli-NGO was the lead speaker of the day who engaged the auditorium full of about 300 girl students in an interactive session of more than one hour. The students also prepared posters on the topic of mestrual health protection and expressed their inquisitiveness to learn about the issue. They came out openly with their questions on the issue which were answered by Dr. Surbhi. On this occassion, all participating girl students were distributed free sanitary pads arranged by BSES Yamuna Power Limited in support of campaign Sangini.
The Secretaries, DLSAs informed that a team of medical counselors has been trained jointly by DLSA, IMA and Sachhi Saheli and the campaign may soon be extended through these counselors to all the government girls and co-ed schools of trans yamuna to sensitize the students of about menstrual health protection, and realize the constitutional goal of Right to Education. As a part of Phase-I of Sangini, about 300 teachers of various Delhi Government and EDMC Schools were sensitized by District Legal Services Authority (North-East, East & Shahdara) and IMA.
