The crisis in Jharkhand erupted on 8th of January 2013 when the BJP’s ruling coalition partner Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, in a letter to the Governor, formally withdrew its support to the 28-month-old government pushing it into a minority.
Following the pullout of the JMM, Chief Minister Arjun Munda resigned and sought dissolution of the Assembly. Governor Syed Ahmed then recommended President’s rule while keeping the Assembly under suspended animation.
President of India Pranab Mukherjee, signed the proclamation imposing the central rule in the state which is known for political instability
Jharkhand, which was created in 2000 and has seen eight governments.
