Ranchi, Jharkhand April 17, 2015 :: Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court, Justice Virender Singh administer oath of office to senior advocate of Jharkhand High court Ratnakar Bhengra as Judge of Jharkhand High court at ceremony in Ranchi on Friday.
Bhengra has been in active legal practices from 1992 and has argued cases for the State Government as Government Pleader before being elevated. He is among handful of people from tribal community to rise to the prestigious position.
He happens to be the first lawyer from the tribal community to be elevated a judge since creation of Jharkhand High Court in 2000. Lakshman Uraon, another tribal judge (now retired), belongs to State Judicial Services.
Bhengra was born in 1962 and since then it was continuous journey towards higher ends. The renowned legal practitioner had an exemplary educational career which began with schooling from Mount Hermon in Darjeeling. He had done LLB from Campus Centre at Delhi University from 1983 to 1986 after studying Geography at Kerori Mal College of Delhi University. The zeal for acquiring knowledge brought Bhengra at Jawaharlal Nehru University for pursuing M.Phil in Public International Law between 1986 and 1988.
Bhengra has also made enriching contribution to the world of media and has been associated with The Pioneer.
