31 May 2013 :: Renowned Filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh passes away on 30th of May 2013 in Kolkatta. Ghosh was born on 31st of August 1963 in Kolkata. He was an Indian Bengali film director. Both his parents were related to films, his father Sunil Ghosh was a documentary film maker and a painter. He completed his schooling from South Point High School, and obtained a degree in economics from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
After pursuing a degree in Economics he started his career as a creative artist in advertisement agency. In 1992, his debut film Hirer Angti released. In 1994 his next film Unishe April released which won National Film Award for Best Feature Film.
Ghosh was a self-confessed Satyajit Ray fan. In his career spanning almost two decades he won 12 National and some International awards. Ghosh died on 30th of May 2013 in Kolkata after suffering a massive heart attack.
