Ranchi, Jharkhand March 30, 2015 :: Sarala Birla, wife of noted industrialist B.K.Birla and the founder of Sarala Birla Public School [SBPS ] including many educational, technical and fine arts institutions was paid a heart felt condolence by the students, teachers and staffs of Sarala Birla Public School. She passed away to her heavenly abode on 27th March 2015. She was 91 years old and had been suffering from many old age related problems when she breathed her last at their home in New Delhi. Basant Kumar Birla was there with her when she breathed her last.
As soon as the news of her sad demise broke out members and staffs of SBPS, ANM & GNM were grieved. The day being Ramnavmi all concerned were intimated through SMS and on Monday, all of them turned to their institutions to pay their last tribute to Maa Sarala Birla in the assembly ground of SBPS.
On 29th, all members of staff including SBPS adim. Head Pradip Varma, Principal Mrs. Poonam Singh of SBPS, Principal Mrs. Suhani Bara of GNM and Principal Jitendra Kumar of ANM streamlined to the school assembly ground and paid their condolence by remaining silent for two minutes and offering Homage at her portrait. Thereafter, all of the students moved to their respective buses and departed to their destination.
She was born on 23rd Nov, 1924 at Kuchhaman, In the state of Rajasthan to Brijlal Biyani. The spirit of nationalism and patriotism she had inherited from her father, she proved to e a brave girl and was in contact Mahatama Gandhi and Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and other freedom fighters. In the later phase of her life, she remained in contact with Mrs. Indira Gandhi & Dalai Lama.
At the age of 18, she was married to Birla Family patriarch Basant KUmar Birla in 1942.With B.K.Birla and Sarala Devi Birla Empire especially social activity sector grew a couple of wings and it proved to be an incessant flight to the endless zenith. A true social thinker, reformer, educationist and philosopher, she knew that India cannot develop in true sense without developing its human resources. Hence she fell after enhancing the human resources while her husband looked after the affairs of industrial development to make India self dependent. Needless to mention that she was the living motivational force behind all the industrial entrepreneurship that her husband Mr. B.K.Birla and father-in-law Mr. G.D. Birla were undertaking.
She lived her life to the fullest potential of an understanding wife, guiding mother, gentle, obedient daughter-in –law, a thoughtful social worker, an inspiring academician and a true evaluator of fine arts. Her collection of Indian art culture in Kolkata ranks amongst India’s most distinguished private collections. The Sangeet Kala Mandir and the Birla Academy of Art and Culture were set up by her along with her husband.
