Ranchi, Jharkhand | September | Wednesday | 09, 2015 :: Delhi Public School, Ranchi in collaboration with National Institute Of Open Schooling ( NIOS ) organised a seminar for students, teachers and principals on 09-09-2015. The programme began with ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the honourable chief guest Prof. C. B. Sharma, Chairman, NIOS. After this the children of DPS presented a melodious welcome song which was followed by the presentation of bouquets to the eminent guests. The programme was conducted in three sessions – first session was interaction with students, second with the teachers and the third session was with the Principals. In the first session the students of Delhi Public School, Ranchi voiced their opinions and suggestions in a very enthusiastic manner. Around 70 teachers from all the eminent schools of Jharkhand were present in the second session. In the third session Principals of around 70 schools from Jharkhand board and CBSE board attended this programme.
The prime objective of this seminar was to interact and collect feedback as well as suggestions for framing a new well defined education policy. This policy aims at revamping and redefining the existing education policy.
In this regard 33 major areas have been identified out of which 20 are for school level education and 13 for higher education. Prof. C. B. Sharma has been entrusted with two major areas – strengthening of vocational education (VE) and promotion of information and communication technology (ICT). During the course of the interaction some brilliant suggestions like scope of such kind of education, need to create awareness among parents, refresher courses for teachers, importance of job mapping etc. came up.
Dr. Ram Singh in his augural address said that we need to welcome changes and the changes are taking place because of globalization in the field of education. He also said that the new policy aims at fulfilling the needs of the people as per the demand. It was also stated by him that this system offers a plethora of choice and for this people need to arise and awake.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. A. K. Singh, Regional Director, NIOS. In his speech he stated that the ideas and suggestions taken from here will help in framing the new educational policy. He expressed his heartfelt thanks for the contribution of innovative ideas which would go a long way to give us a clear picture of “What is happening and What is going to happen?”
