Jamshedpur, Jharkhand | September | Saturday | 26, 2015 :: Special Olympics Bharat Jharkhand celebrated Eunice Kennedy Shriver day at the premises of TFA, Jamshedpur. Eunice Kennedy Shriver was the sister of John F Kennedy President of USA and was the founder of Special Olympics movement and started working for special athletes in the year 1964.
Today special Olympics has reached to 180 countries and more the 5 million special athletes are participating in different games under Special Olympics International
Approximately seventy five special athletes from the following schools participated & paid floral tributes to the founder
School of Hope, Asha Kiran School, START, PATH,Day Care Center, Astitiwe Jeevika, Special School of Joy, R P Patel Cheshire Home & Jharkhand Viklandg Sansthan
Friendly matches with TFA cadets was arranged for the special athletes and they enjoyed playing with the budding stars of Indian Football. Some other fun games were also arranged for lower ability athletes
Baily Bodhanwala [ MD Tarapore Group of Industries & Area Director SOB Jharkhand ], Farzan Heerjee [ Chief G R & Sports ], Muku Choudhari [ Administrator TFA ], P Vijay Kumar [ International footballer & Coach TFA ], Lee Walshaw [ Head Coach SUFC ], Principal / Secretaries / staff of various schools & members of SOB Jharkhand committee were present on this occasion.
Complementary prizes were awarded to all the athletes by the SOB Jharkhand & Certificates of merit to the medal winners of Special Olympics World Summer Games 2015 were awarded byBaily Bodhanwala

Eunice Mary Kennedy Shriver, DSG (July 10, 1921 – August 11, 2009)[2] was a member of the Kennedy family, sister of President John F. Kennedy and Senators Robert F. Kennedy and Ted Kennedy. Eunice Kennedy Shriver was the founder in 1962 of Camp Shriver which started on her Maryland farm known as Timberlawn and, in 1968 evolved into the Special Olympics. Her husband, Sargent Shriver, was United States Ambassador to France and the Democratic vice presidential candidate in the 1972 U.S. presidential election.
For her work in nationalizing the Special Olympics, Shriver received the Civitan International World Citizenship Award. Her advocacy on this issue has also earned her other awards and recognitions, including honorary degrees from numerous universities. She is the second American and only woman to appear on a US coin while still living. Her portrait is on the obverse of the 1995 commemorative silver dollar honoring the Special Olympics.
