Ranchi, Jharkhand | June | 19, 2019 :: Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS) welcomed its new batch of 2019-21 on June 19, 2019 who will be taking forward the legacy of the Institution that came into existence in 1955. The inauguration ceremony was organized in the auditorium where students from all the five departments (Human Resources Management, Rural Management, Information Technology Management, Finance Management, and Marketing Management) were inducted. The Institute holds a total of 330 seats.
The event started with the lighting of lamp by all the dignitaries including the chief guest for the occasion Shri Rajesh Kumar Sharma, IAS Secretary Technical and Higher Educational, Govt. of Jharkhand followed by a welcome speech by (Dr.) Fr. Alexius Ella S.J, Director, Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi. In his speech he talked at length about the achievements and works of Shri Rajesh Kumar Sharma. He welcomed the new batch with open arms and told about the culture and rules followed at XISS. After a brief introduction of all the faculty members, Fr. Pradeep Kerketta shared a brief sketch of St. Francis Xavier and his journey with St. Ignatius in establishing the Society of Jesus. Dr. Fr. Joseph Marianus Kujur assured students how XISS will mould the students to perfection so that they excel in every field of life and for the holistic transformation of the society. The Guest of Honor Prof. Dr. Shailender Singh, Director IIM Ranchi congratulated the students of the new batch for becoming a part of XISS fraternity. He talked about the importance of role models in life; the best life lessons you’ll ever learn will likely come from your role models.
The Chief guest of the event Shri Rajesh Kumar Sharma shared his journey to IAS. He talked about having a clear vision by stating that one must be clear about what he/she wants to achieve in life. He urged the students to think beyond academic; while classrooms provide the foundation for students, it is real-life experiences and experimental learning that will prepare them for the world. He also emphasised on the importance of building a strong network.
At the end Prof. S.R Shauq briefed the students about Awanish Kumar Dev Memorial Scholarship. He asked Mr. Varinder Verma, Head Talen Acquisition, Maruti- Suzuki to present the Awanish Kumar Dev Memorial Scholarship of Rs. One Lakh each to the second year students of PGDM HR namely Prateek Gupta, Sakshi Sukrity and Shikha Upaydhyay under the Maruti Suzuki XISS Awanish Kumar Dev Memorial Trust. After the vote of thanks by Dr. Rik Das, IT, XISS the new joiners moved to their respective classes for induction with their respective faculty members where they were told about the institute, its vision, mission and all the necessary details were given which they will need for the proper conduct in the college.
