Ranchi, Jharkhand | September | 28, 2019 :: Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi successfully conducted the first day of AGON 5.0 at its campus. A multitude of events was held at the college by various student bodies, beginning with the ‘Inauguration Ceremony’ at 11.30 in the morning. Students coming from top B-Schools of the country attended the inauguration by Ms. Debjani Ghosh, President at NASSCOM, Prof. K. N. Singh, Prof. Rohit Kumar Singh and Prof. Sudhanshu. Several competitions were running simultaneously in both the campuses of IIM Ranchi. At Suchna Bhawan, ‘Encase’, a case study competition was conducted by E-Cell, the entrepreneurial student body of IIM Ranchi, with contestants competing for top prizes worth ?76,000, while another case study competition ‘Plutus’ was conducted by the finance club – Finopsis, with cash prizes worth ?50000. While this was going on, there were five other case study competitions called ‘Crack the Case’, ‘Symvoulous’, ‘Maneuver’, ‘Terra Nullius’, and ‘MarCase’ being conducted at separate locations by Sankriya (Operations club), Conandrum (Consulting Club), Hire(HR Club), Literary(Literary Club) and Marquess(Marketing Club) respectively with cash prizes in excess of ?3,11,000. While all these case studies were related to real-life business case studies, IIM Ranchi student body Samarpan(Social Responsibility Club) and UNGC – PRME was organizing case studies ‘Samadhan’ and ‘Privridhi’ respectively, where the students had a chance not just to earn the cash prizes worth ?55,000but also learn about the real-life challenges pertaining to Society and Environment. These competitions by the social responsibility student bodies were aimed at creating awareness among students across the nation towards sustainable development goals, and the case studies were designed in such a way as to elevate the intellect and knowledge of the participants towards these goals by challenging them to solve real-life social and environmental issues.
Staying true to its theme, ‘Against All Odds,’ MBA students came across the nation after qualifying the difficult first round, and despite the rain that continued since morning, there was no shortage of ‘Josh’ among them. They exhausted their entire mental faculty and used their intellect to compete against their opponents, who were equally up to the task.
The winners of ‘Crack the Case’ are team Challengers (Sonal Shikha, Subhadip Shaw, and Patel Dimilkumar) from IIM Ranchi and team CIA(Swapnil Srivastava, Sanket Somra and Siddharth Wankhede), also from IIM Ranchi tying for the first place and winning a total cash prize of ?15000. The winners and runner-ups of ‘Symvoulous’ are teams Even and Odd(Kushal Thakar and Riya Agarwal) from IIM Ranchi and team Flying Quarks(Saurav Saha and Manmeet Kaur and Anjali Maheshwari) from IIM Ranchi respectively and winning a total cash prize of ?30000. The winners and runner-ups of ‘Maneuver’ are team-A from XLRI Jamshedpur and team BEES KNEES from IIM Ranchi respectively and winning a total cash prize of ?15000. The winners and runner-ups of ‘Plutus’ are team Even and Odd(Kushal Thakar and Riya Agarwal) and Flying Quarks(Saurav Saha and Manmeet Kaur and Anjali Maheshwari) from IIM Ranchi and winning a total cash prize of ?50000. The winners and runner-ups of ‘Samadhan’ are team Storm Bringers from IIM Ranchi and Sacred Games from IIM Ranchi respectively and winning a total cash prize of ?35000.
Many competitions are still going on, and results are yet to be declared. IIM Ranchi also welcomed the distinguished Judges, including Dr. Chetna Verma (DCP Chair at Toastmasters International), Mr. Mohd. Tanweeruddin (Area Chair at Toastmasters International), Mr. Ravi Kataria (Founder and MD at Investment Imperative Group), Ms. Preeti Sehgal (CSR Head at JUSCO), Mr. Amitesh Anand (Founder of 366pi), Mr. Bharat Jaiswal (Regional Director at Assocham), Mr Kumar Baibhav (Founder of InvesNow), and Mr. Harini Sreenivasan (Chief Mentor HR at Intelliswift Software Inc.) and many others.
